The Van’s Restaurant on Belmont Ave is one of the few remaining buildings from the Panama-Pacific International Exposition, a designation it shares with the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. Originally a Japanese Tea House, the building was purchased by local landowner E. D. Swift and brought to Belmont on a barge when the exposition closed in 1915.

Strategically situated between Silicon Valley and San Francisco, Belmont is located just across the way from Oracle, the city’s largest employer. Belmont also boasts several famous tech companies of its own, including Nikon Precision, Cengage Learning and the Volkswagen Research Laboratory.
