Burlingame Storybook Cottage

Nestled in the charming Willborough Place neighborhood, this two-story Tudor Revival cottage is just blocks away from downtown Burlingame. The original wooden door opens to an entry foyer that leads to a light-filled living room with a gas fireplace flanked by built-in wooden bookshelves. The first floor also includes a spacious dining room and an updated kitchen with stone counters, glass-fronted cabinet doors, and a 4-Burner Wolf Range. The classic wood tread staircase with elegant white balusters leads to the second floor. The history of Willow Place Cottages is fascinating. Built in 1935 by George W. Williams and Frank Burrows, the name "Willborough" is a blend of their names. Architect Gillam, an Englishman,  designed these 22 homes to resemble a European village with Tudor Revival architecture, (also known as  'Tudorbethian'). Williams and Burrows also developed Williams Place  (around 1929) and Chesterton Place (around 1936) in San Mateo with similarly designed architecture.
